As part of the Award presentations, we were pleased to present Tony Cooper with a very well deserved Lifetime Achievement Award for his services to energy efficiency, decarbonisation and sustainability.

Until just recently, Tony was an A2EP Board Director and Treasurer from when the organisation was established in 2009. He was also the CEO of Energetics for a number of years. Thank you so much for your passion, hard work and support, Tony!

Presentation speech by Jarrod Leak, A2EP

In five or ten years' time, we will no doubt be looking back at how we are standing on the shoulders of the pioneers recognised by the Australian Renewable Heat Awards. Which brings us to the next award, the Lifetime Achievement Award

Energy efficiency and energy productivity are not new concepts.  The energy consulting industry in Australia was kicked off by a few pioneers more than 30 years ago and today we would like to recognise once such pioneer who helped create awareness, methodologies and action on reducing energy consumption and emissions.

The recipient of this award joined ERM Energetics (then known as Energetics) 26 years ago seeking a senior role, after a couple of years with a competing consulting company and a decade running Westpac bank’s energy program.

He was passionate about building his career around improving the way companies with commercial buildings used and bought energy.

After about 17 years he took on the CEO role.

He has delivered great commitment and passion to both build Energetics and more broadly to energy productivity and addressing climate change. He has always been a strong manager, partner, and industry leader. This has included representation on a number of industry bodies, including A2EP.

Since the inception of A2EP in 2009 until our last AGM he held the role of board member and Treasurer, carefully guiding the organisation through various cycles and to where we are today.

He has also tutored and guided numerous graduates and new employees. So here’s to more than three decades of contribution to energy productivity and efficiency and decarbonisation.

Please join me in celebrating a work career of outstanding purpose and passion and congratulate this thoroughly deserved recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award: Tony Cooper.
